Journey to Olympus: Gods, heroes and myths
Pupils become explorers: they open a chest of symbols, meet the gods through actions, hear the myth of Prometheus, discover that Aphrodite was 'born' in Paphos and write their own myth. Two classroom-ready 45-minute lessons, with a source file and a test.
- 1Lesson 1: where myths come from — Mycenaean tablets, Homer, Hesiod
- 2Lesson 1: the Theogony and the Olympians with their symbols
- 3Lesson 2: reading sources — Prometheus (Hesiod) and the Cyclops (Odyssey)
- 4Lesson 2: Aphrodite, Paphos and Palaipaphos
- 540-point test with answer key and marking rubric
Builds on the Year 3 mythology unit at Year 5–6 depth and separates myth from science (thunder, earthquakes, seasons).
